CONTENT SUBMISSION GUIDELINES


The OSTN Channel accepts content via DVD and FTP (see file formats below.) To request a login for OSTN's secure FTP site, please email programming@ostn.tv .

NOTICE ALL programs above 20 minutes must be segmented into 3 parts. Series shows must total 28 minutes 30 seconds. Please submit files labeled A, B and C. Example: Cleveland State_Sports Night_9-8-07A.mpg

Audio: -1 db with average levels between -10 and -3 db

Source Format: Digital MPEG2 - prefer highest quality source
DV / 25 mbs - please indicate AVI - Type1 or AVI - Type2
Video Resolution: 480p (720x480)/ 29.97 fps/ 4 - 7mbs
Audio: MPEG1 layer II/-1 db with average levels between -10 and -3 db
 
Textural Metadata: Textural metadata consist of text and data fields that are used as a component of the encoding process and to describe content within the OSTN system.

At this time, OSTN is requiring the following table (page 2) to be submitting with EACH piece that is submitted to our channel. This table can either be submitted electronically via email or FTP, or the table can be printed out and mailed manually. Metadata requirements are subject to change based on the needs of OSTN's distribution.

The specification for textural metadata is included in the tables below. The tables are divided into 3 categories - Required to Post Content, Included on the OSTN Web Site and Additional Information. Each table contains a category, description and data field (3rd column — right).
 
Textural Metadata — Required to Post Content
Title*: Primary Movie Title
Genre(s)*: Genre(s), can be multiple
Duration*: Feature run time in minutes
Summary*: Plot synopsis / overview
Rating*: MPAA or other rating
 
Textural Metadata — Included on or planned for the OSTN Web Site
Direction: Names of the Director(s)
Production: Names of the Producer(s)
Release Year: Original year the content was released
Extras: Closed Caption, Deleted Scenes, Music, Videos etc.
Awards: Any awards related to the content
Language: Primary language; English etc.
Subtitles: Subtitle languages; Spanish, French etc.
Video Ratio: 4:3, 16:9, 1.77x1, 1.85x1, 2.35x1
Primary Audio: Primary Audio Format; DD 1.0, DD 2.0, DD 5.1, Mono etc.
Tags: Important descriptive key words (e.g. funny, political, indie)
Website: url of related web site(s)
 
Textural Metadata — Additional Information
CP Asset Name: Unique Content Provider Reference (e.g. SKU or inventory #)
 
Graphic Metadata: Please send OSTN a show, group, department, or school logo to promote your work. OSTN can accept graphic metadata in the form of thumbnails, screen grabs, and cover art. Thumbnails are currently required to post content to the OSTN web site.

The specification for graphic metadata is included in the table below. Files of reasonable size can be delivered via E - mail, FTP or included when delivering digital content.

Promos/Trailers: Please send OSTN a :15 or :30 show promo to feature on the 24/7 channel to promote your work. The specification for digital media metadata is included in the table below. The video and audio format must follow the previous specification for digital media (above). Digital media metadata can be delivered via any of the methods described in the digital media specification.
