Department: Media Operations Position: Media Compressionist Location: Cleveland, Ohio Schedule: Full-Time Hours: 8:30am-5:30pm M-F, overtime when required
The Open Student Television Network offers an excellent opportunity for a proven self-starter and master communicator with creative instincts to be a part of the OSTN channel's media operations team. Prime responsibilities include encoding video assets into designated digital format for play out on the OSTN channel, and OSTN alternative distribution sites. The Media Compressionist will be responsible for ensuring all assets are processed in a timely and organized manner, conducive to the work flow within the Content Acquisitions and Media Operations teams. Candidate will have strong knowledge of video compression technologies and encoding platforms, including DVD Decrypter, AVISynth, DG Index, BeSweetGUI, Windows Media Encoder, h.264/AAC, VLC and Camtasia Studio technologies. The Media Compressionist will work with the OSTN engineers and programmers to develop new processes and upgrade existing processes based on delivery platform. Candidate will ideally have a background in film and video production. Candidate must be extremely organized, and have keen attention to detail regarding video quality and play out. Video and audio editing skills a plus.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for digital processing of all OSTN content, including ingest,encoding, editing and graphic overlay work
Encode all video assets to designated format in a timely manner
Work with content acquisitions team to develop and streamline program management processes
Work with OSTN engineers and programmers to develop and streamline delivery procedures
Maintain asset management database and asset library
Work with OSTN team on marketing and promotions development
Work with Promo Editor to develop and maintain promo archive
Work with OSTN team on membership development and/or original productions when needed
Skills:
Proficient in media compression software and DVD authoring platforms
Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot with media compression issues and problems
Knowledge of IT issues including networking and FTP protocols
Ability to problem solve and innovative at determining solutions
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be extremely organized and have the ability to multitask on a daily basis
Must be innovative in developing organizational tools
Proficient in MS Excel
Knowledge and skills in new media platforms including H.264 and MPEG4 technologies
Experience working with FTP platforms
