Program Description:

OSTN News is the first collegiate news show where students report the hottest stories from around the US, UK and Canada. The stories are based on news events that are of interest to college-age students.

OSTN News is always looking for the next big story. To support student journalists across the country, OSTN offers the opportunity to get involved in the first national television newscast dedicated to college and university students. Student Reporters will be responsible for pitching stories in a weekly news meeting, will be assigned stories by News Producers, and will be responsible for completing their package and uploading to the OSTN News FTP site by the agreed-upon deadline.

These grants will be offered during Spring Semester 2008 to persons meeting the following criteria:

• Applicants must be enrolled in a credit-granting college or university.
• Applicants must have access to the requisite equipment to produce news packages (e.g. camera, lighting, tripod, editor, and related) as OSTN will not be responsible for these costs.

The OSTN Student Freelance Reporter Grant shall be awarded to individuals. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

Criteria:

Applications will be judged on originality of concept, quality of content, and presentation of story.

Award Notices:

Applicants will be notified via email by February 29th, 2008.
